So whats the plan...

In 2024 my lovely wife Michelle will turn 65, I know she only looks 40, but she is going to be ready to retire...

Well, if you know us, you will know I will be working until they nail the lid on, not because I love work but due to us not having stuff all money saved for retirement... our retirement plan having gone south years ago, but that's a whole different story...

Anyway, what's the plan after March 2024 ??

Go and explore Australia, of course, Australia is a really big place so that's going to take a while, and in New Zealand, you can only be away from NZ for 6 months at a time without making special arrangements around your pension and we will need that pension!  Of course, I have to keep on working I am not going to be a kept man...

What we plan is for me to change to working 3 days a week, working remotely, which is not much of a change as I already work from home all the time, but fewer hours. leaving us 4 days a week to explore wherever we are but 3 days a week to earn some money as a "Digital Nomad".

My boss doesn't know this yet, but pretty sure it will be okay with them :)

For the first 6 months stint, we will put all our "stuff" in storage, and head over to Australia. Once we get to Australia we think we will buy a used 4WD, my Son suggests a Nissan Patrol, apparently, they are pretty cheap. We had thought about adding a roof tent, but after thinking about it we think we might actually buy a caravan...

Okay so not anywhere near as nice as this most likely.. but you get the idea...

Are you getting ahead of yourself here?

So 2024 is two years away .. why start this blog now? 

Well for a couple of reasons.

• 1. I believe you want something to happen put it out in the universe...


• 2. I thought it may be good to document this journey to try and get to this goal...

Will we actually do it? go on the trip? keep up the blog? who knows...

Have we ever done an Adventure / Big Trip like this before?

Well yes, we have... We left New Zealand in March 2011 and went to live in London and explore Europe and we came back to NZ in Jan 2017 so 6 years of working and exploring.

I may also do some of that story on this website as well... I haven't even finished processing all the photos and videos from that trip!  

Who will want to read this blog? look at our photos? watch our videos? follow the story?

Honestly, I don't imagine this to be of any interest to anyone but perhaps my Grandchildren, but if you have read this far on the first post .. well done :) sorry, you will never get that 5 minutes of your life back!
